On 11 July, the Government submitted to Parliament Hungary’s first Civil Code created in a democratic environment by a team of highly reputable experts. The Government submitted the text created by the Civil Law Codification Committee to Parliament effectively without change.

It will be 556 years on Sunday that the Christian Hungarian troops defending Nándorfehérvár, led by János Hunyadi, inflicted a crushing defeat on the army of Turkish Sultan Mehmet II on 22 July 1456 after a battle that ensued for more than two weeks, and thereby stopped the continued expansion of the Turks in Europe for some 70 years. Parliament declared this prominent day of Hungarian and European history and of Christianity the Memorial Day of the Nándorfehérvár Victory last year.

Another automobile industry project, this time in Veszprém

Continental Automotive Hungary will create 150 new jobs in the town of Veszprém. The company has extended its manufacturing floor space by virtue of a project worth HUF 2.8 billion which was inaugurated on Friday. The Government supported the job-creating project with HUF 512 million from the resources of the New Széchenyi Plan. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Administration and Justice Tibor Navracsics.
