At an international anti-corruption conference in Beijing on Tuesday, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs at the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice Bence Rétvári said that corruption is not a country-specific phenomenon and that everywhere ‘It has destructive effect on economic growth and society, it undermines the stability of states and presents an enormous challenge for many nations.’
Hungarian – Italian Cultural Season 2013 tent at the Sziget Festival

The Government is promoting the Hungarian – Italian Cultural Season 2013 (which starts on 1 January) by setting up a Hungarian – Italian tent at the Sziget Festival. The slogan of the 2013 event series – which aims to strengthen diplomatic and cultural relations between the two nations – is Találkozások/Incontri (‘Meetings’). Visitors to the festival can meet Hungarian and Italian celebrities in the tent, as a symbol of the friendship between the two countries.
European regulations take priority in the Csatáry case

In response to a statement on Monday by Slovakian Minister of Justice Tomas Borec, the Hungarian Ministry of Public Administration and Justice has stated that a framework decision on European arrest warrants exists between Hungary and Slovakia, and that this could be enacted if a Slovak court requests extradition from Hungary of the war crimes suspect László Csatáry. In Hungary also, it is the exclusive right of the judiciary (and not ministries) to decide on the implementation of a European arrest warrant.
