"Giving poor and vulnerable people secure and equitable rights to access land and other natural resources is a key condition in the fight against hunger and poverty", said FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva in his speech at today's special session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) at FAO headquarters in Rome, where 124 member states ceremoniously adopted the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Land Tenure.

31 businesses are representing Hungary at the 79th International Agriculture Fair in Vojvodina, held from May 12-18 with the support of the Hungarian Collective Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC). For seven companies, this is the first time they are presenting themselves before the Serbian public. State Secretary for Environmental Affairs Zoltán Illés and Saudi Arabia's Minister for Water and Electricity Abdullah Al Hussayen held talks at the Ministry of Rural Development today on various water management topics: the construction of waterworks', the utilization of artesian water and sewage management. The parties agreed on an exchange of water management experts.

Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas and Minister for Agriculture Fahad bin Abdulrahman Balghunaim discussed the establishment of a Hungarian-Saudi holding during their meetings in Budapest on Monday. The joint venture, set up with state participation, would deal with cattle breeding, plant cultivation and poultry breeding.

Hungary and Lithuania are jointly providing help to Serbia so that it may integrate the European Union's food safety and animal welfare requirements into the Serbian legal system as smoothly as possible. The EU is providing 2 million Euros in support until 2014 towards the professional cooperation between our countries.
