"We have held extremely successful talks with the Irish Minister on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy; the two countries are in agreement on most issues", said Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas following his meeting in Budapest with Irish Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Simon Coveney.
"Hungary's natural conditions are excellent for agricultural production, all requirements are given for us to provide high quality foods to the Chinese economy, which relies heavily on imports", said State Secretary Endre Kardeván at the opening of his two-day meeting with experts from the Chinese Quarantine Agency at the Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development. The meeting may lead to closer cooperation with the Chinese agency and to the opening of a regional office in Budapest.
"In future, the terms "Hungarian Product", Domestic Product" and "Domestically Processed Product" may be included on the labels of foods on a voluntary basis. The use of these categories will not be compulsory, but anyone who includes the term Hungarian Product on his goods must conform to regulations", stated Sándor Fazekas at the producers market held under the arcade of the Ministry of Rural Development of Friday.
"Mutual high-level meetings, professional discussions and forums between China and Hungary are achieving the required results and business relations between the two countries are expected to expand", said Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Katalin Tóth at the conference organised in Budapest by the Commercial Centre of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and the Hungarian Kincsem Agricultural Cooperative. The Deputy State Secretary for Parliamentary, Social and International Affairs emphasised that the two countries' public administration and economic participants must make further efforts, which primarily assumes taking an active role.
"Water is a priority issue for Hungary, and so the country has undertaken to provide the venue for a World Conference on water in autumn 2013", announced Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Katalin Tóth at the session of the Parliamentary Committee on Sustainable Development.
From now on, National Parks will be able to sell their own branded products and may supplement their income through ecotourism activities. Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas announced the amendment of the deed of foundation of the national parks during his visit to the Balaton Highlands National Park. One of the unique summer spectacles of the area is the flowering of the lavender fields, which the Minister invited everyone to visit during his tour of the country's treasures.
"The accomplishments of the past five decades prove that the Common Agricultural Policy is one of the European Union's most successful, strongest and most efficient community achievements. One of our priority interests is the suitable development of the CAP for the period 2014-2020", stated Minister for Agriculture Sándor Fazekas at the conference organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the CAP. The meeting entitled CAP Reform 2014-2020 – Agricultural Economy Challenges and held at the Ministry of Rural Development was welcomed in a letter by EU Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development Dacian Cioloș.
Deputy State Secretary for International Affairs Katalin Tóth of the Ministry of Rural Development represented Hungary at the V4+2 Conference held in Rzeszów, Poland.
"Hungary's activities within the field of water management are internationally acknowledged", stressed the Ministry of Rural Development's Deputy State Secretary for Water at the conference organised on International Danube Day. The countries that lie on the river's catchment area have been drawing attention to the Danube's values and diverse wildlife on June 29 of each year since 2004. This specific day was chosen because the international Danube River Protection Convention to which 14 countries including Hungary became affiliated was signed in Sofia on June 29 1994.
"The fact that the flavours and values of rural Hungary have been given space in the heart of the capital under the arcades of the Ministry of Rural Development is symbolic. The Ministry indeed wants to take producers under its wings and support them with every instrument possible", announced State Secretary for Rural Development Zsolt V. Németh at the official opening of the market on Kossuth Square, opposite Parliament.
