"The nature conservation and game management sectors had come to a historical agreement, which has been accepted by state and non-governmental representatives of both areas" – said Zsolt Semjén during his opening speech at the 19th Fishing, Hunting and Arms International Exhibition (FeHoVa), held at the Budapest exhibition centre Hungexpo.
"Hungarian foods of exceptional quality are highly competitive in Russia" – said Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas, rounding up his experiences on the first day of his visit to Moscow.
Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas and State Secretary for Food Chain Control Supervision and Agricultural Administration Endre Kardeván both attended one of the most important international agricultural trade fairs held in Moscow. Hungary was represented by its own national pavilion and by thirteen companies. During the exhibition, Sándor Fazekas will hold talks with the Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
The Strategy, which involves eight countries, utilizes natural and geographical advantages, with special regard to water management and the rural development related cooperation between Hungarian communities – stated Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas at the Hungarian Parliament, where the agreement entitled "Rural Development Cross-Border Cooperation with Hungarian Peoples in the Carpathian Basin" was ceremoniously signed.
According to information received by the relevant Hungarian authority, Turkey is to revoke its ban on livestock imports from Hungary. The Turkish party has accepted the Hungarian authority's package of measures and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Animal Husbandry will be lifting the temporary ban on the transport of live animals, meaning that exports may now continue after the relevant quotas are distributed. Businesses who deal in exports will also receive notification when the ban is lifted.
"We have kept our promise: we are helping locally resident farmers with small and medium sized estates acquire farmland leaseholds. The signing of these contracts is further confirmation that the Ignác Darányi Plan concentrates on family run farms" – said Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas at the press conference at which the first farmland lease contracts were ceremoniously presented to three farmers.
Fish are one of the most important sources of protein in public provisioning in India, and so the agreement signed on aquaculture, carp genetics and sweetwater fish breeding by State Secretary for Agricultural Economy György Czerván and State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of India Prabeer Kumar Basu at the meeting of the Hungarian-Indian Agricultural Workgroup is of great significance.
"New food production plants boost animal husbandry; they increase farmers' confidence in the fact that it is worthwhile to invest and to establish modern, livestock farming facilities" – announced Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas in Hajdúböszörmény at a ceremony to place the foundation stone of Wassim Cheese Ltd's new production hall, in the presence of ambassadors from ten Arab countries.
Hungary would like to increase the area used for biofarming to three hundred thousand hectares by 2020, in view of which the Ministry is working on an ecological farming programme. Organic farmers receive special support and we provide help with switching to the new methods – said Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas at the professional conference of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (ÖMKI) at the Saint Stephen University in Gödöllő. The event organised by the ÖMKI is aimed at assisting the spread of ecological farming.
Duck and goose products manufactured using force-feeding were among the topics on the agenda during the 9th session of the Hungarian-French Agriculture and Rural Development Workgroup in Budapest. The French party proposed joint, EU-level representation for the protection of duck and goose liver products.
