On 25 April 2013, the Leipzig based European Energy Exchange (EEX) held its second auction of Hungarian EUA emission units listed in the second trading period of the emission trading system of the European Union (EU ETS). With the sale of the remaining 2,587,000 EUA units, Hungary has sold its last EUA quotas in the relevant period.
The Hungarian delegation led by Pál Kovács, Minister of State for Climate Change and Energy, actively participated in the informal consultations of Member State ministers concerning the framework of EU energy policy in the next decade, unconventional fossil fuels and the effects of renewable energy recovery on 23-24 April 2013 in Dublin.

In the framework of the NER300 programme, the European Commission supports innovative projects aimed at the environmentally safe capture and geological storage of carbon dioxide, the recovery of renewable energy and the development of intelligent networks. Only a limited number of tenders may be submitted per Member State in the framework of the Commission’s call for tenders, therefore the Ministry of National Development is launching a preliminary qualification tender.
In the framework of the supplementary agreement concluded on 11 April 2013 between the Ministry of National Development and the Leipzig based European Energy Exchange (EEX), the Hungarian State will sell all of its remaining European units of account (EUA) in April of this year, as approved by the European Commission.
The Nabucco Committee held its fourth meeting on 12 April 2013 in Budapest, where the permanent members of the Committee reasserted in a declaration their commitment to the implementation of the Nabucco West project planned for the transmission of natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe.
By authorisation granted by the Government, on 22 March 2013, Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh, the Hungarian Association for the Stockpiling of Hydrocarbons (MSZKSZ) and the representatives of MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Company Plc. signed a letter of intent to launch negotiations on the transfer of the title of MMBF Zrt., which operates the Szőreg-1 natural gas safety reserve storage facility in Algyő.
Nearly 30 EU-funded projects were presented nationwide during the open day organised by the National Development Agency (NFÜ). At the Liszt Academy of Music, Deputy State Secretary responsible for development programs Nándor Csepreghy said that the aim of the open day is to introduce the EU projects included in the New Széchenyi Plan that positively affect people's everyday lives to the public.
HungaroControl Air Traffic Service Ltd's new Control Centre was inaugurated in Budapest on Wednesday, from which air traffic controls will work using Europe's most advanced air traffic control software.
