Transport infrastructure is the backbone of national economies.
The Conference on Sustainable Architecture, jointly organised by the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Interior was held in Budapest on 23 May 2013, attracting substantial interest. The high ranking leaders of the organising ministries and the Hungarian and foreign speakers active in this specialised area highlighted the importance of energy aspects related housing newly-built or to be reconstructed.
At the parliamentary evening of the German Federal Association for Bioenergy (Bundesverband BioEnergie – BBE) held on 15 May 2013 in Berlin, discussions were held on the importance of bioenergy and opportunities for the sector.
The Ministry of National Development submitted to Parliament a legislative amendment in support of the use of renewable energy. The regulation bill proposes, among other things, the introduction of the guarantee of origin and the definition by decree of technological/technical conditions required for aid eligibility.
As from 1 May 2013, the Government has increased to 5% the interest subsidy provided for the facilities of Széchenyi Investment Loan, Széchenyi Own Contribution Supplementary Loan and Széchenyi Subsidy Advance Loan. The more favourable financing possibilities may contribute to the investment spirit of domestic small and medium enterprises, this way supporting the development of Hungarian economy. Due to the rate of interest subsidy exceeding that of the current base rate of the bank of issue, Hungarian companies may obtain a loan at an interest of less than 0.4% per month in the scheme.
200 activists from the Hungarian Cyclists’ Club served breakfast to people who cycled to work today as part of the Bike to Work (Bringázz a Munkába!) campaign, which is also supported by the Ministry of National Development.
In April 2013, the Government approved the large project proposal relating to Phase 1 of the large project entitled Implementation of the ELI Laser Research Centre (ELI-ALPS), prepared by ELI-HU Nonprofit Kft. The large tender documentation is therefore fit for submission to the European Commission. On the basis of the Government’s decision, the grant contract of the project can be concluded, that is, the implementation phase of the large investment, which is assigned a national economic priority, is ready to be launched — announced ELI-HU Nonprofit Kft. at a press conference held on 2 May 2013 in Budapest. The laser research centre in Szeged is planned to be built in two phases, with the co-financing of the Structural Funds of the European Union.
Forty-five vehicles with alternative propulsion will compete at the ALTrace Győr 2013 – ALTernative Race on 1 May 2013 in Győr. The chief patron of the event that promotes environmentally friendly modes of transport is Zoltán Schváb, Deputy Minister of State for Transport.
On 25 April 2013, in Wieliczka, Poland, representatives of the competent ministries of the Visegrad and Cohesion countries (V4+7) discussed experience relating to transport infrastructure development implemented with EU co-financing. On 24 April 2013, in Kraków, Poland, the Minister of State for Infrastructure, Pál Völner, introduced the planned transport programme under Hungarian V4 presidency to the heads of the Czech, Polish and Slovak partner ministries.
Approximately HUF 40 billion in support will soon be available within the framework of the EEA and Norway Grants. In order to mark the event the National Development Agency and the Royal Norwegian Embassy organised an official opening conference in Budapest. Information on the objectives of the Funds and expected support will be given by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norway’s ambassador to Budapest as well as representatives of the Ministry for National Development and the National Development Agency.
