Government support enables completion of Pólus Project in Kaposvár

Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh delivered an address at the topping out ceremony of Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital in Kaposvár on 22 October, 2013. Enabled by the additional grant of HUF 2.5 billion awarded by the Government, the comprehensive reconstruction of Somogy County Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital can be implemented by June 2015, it was mentioned at the event.
Increasing competition for EU transport development funds

The main problem with the elements of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in Hungary is that, although the vast majority of the infrastructure has been established, the quality is bad or the capacity falls short of demand. Thus, according to the Hungarian position, making substantial improvements to the sections available is at least as important in solving bottlenecks as establishing the missing connections, Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner emphasised at the TEN-T Days 2013 conference in Tallinn on 17 October 2013.
Emerging energy cooperation between Hungary and Japan

Minister of State for Energy Affairs of the Ministry of National Development Pál Kovács received representatives of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Deputy Director-General Masahiko Fujihara and Deputy Director Takashi Matsumoto in his office on 15 October, 2013. The meeting was also attended by Vice Chairman of the Japanese Atomic Energy Commission Tatsujiro Suzuki.
Visegrád success at Luxembourg Meeting of Environment Council

The Hungarian delegation led by Minister of State for Climate Policy Attila Imre Horváth successfully represented the interests of Visegrád Countries for the adoption of an EU mandate authorising for a more balanced global agreement in 2015, at the meeting of the Environment Council of the European Union in Luxembourg on 14 October, 2013.
Visegrád Four share position on climate policy

Led by Hungary currently holding the Presidency of the Visegrád Cooperation (V4), an extended ministerial meeting on climate policy was held in Budapest on 11 October, 2013. The meeting was also attended by Romanian and Bulgarian climate policy leaders, while a delegate from Lithuania was present as an observer. Hungary was represented by Minister of State for Climate Policy Attila Imre Horváth and Deputy State Secretary Ferenc Hizó at the consultations.
Air Passengers could also get Compensation for Long Delays

The EU’s Air Passenger Rights Regulation is amended for more efficient enforcement of air carriers’ obligations to provide help, catering and compensation. The provisions under preparation could create a clear legal situation also for missed connections. The competent ministers of the Member States held an orientation debate on the draft at the Transport Council’s session on 10 October 2013 in Luxembourg.
Opening towards the East accelerates also in Transport Policy

The transport ministers of Eastern Partnership countries adopted a Joint Declaration at their second meeting in Luxembourg on 9 October, 2013. The parties agreed to continue cooperation as well as the gradual approximation of the regulatory legislation to the EU law in all transport areas. The ministers also approved the map of regional transport networks and the list of priority infrastructure development projects.
National Draft Space Strategy Developed

The Ministry of National Development has recently prepared a National Space Strategy for the period 2014-2020, to be submitted to the government soon, Károly Balázs Solymár, Deputy State Secretary for Infocommunications of the Ministry of National Development said at the conference of the Hungarian Space Cluster (HUNSPACE) in Budapest on October 9, 2013. The main patron of the event was Minister of State for Infocommunication Vilmos Vályi-Nagy.
UN Representative Welcomes Hungary’s Energy and Climate Policy Efforts

Representative for the UN initiative Sustainable Energy for All, Kandeh K. Yumkella, had discussions with Minister of State for Climate Policy Attila Imre Horváth, Minister of State for Energy Affairs Pál Kovács and Deputy State Secretary for Green Economy Ferenc Hizó in Budapest on October 8, 2013. At the meeting, the parties summarised the action performed and to be performed in the fields of sustainability, energy security, climate protection, renewable energy and nuclear energy.
Donauchem Ltd. inaugurates new water purification chemicals plant in Kazincbarcika

Within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan and assisted by EU funds, a new water purification chemicals plant has been built in Kazincbarcika: Donauchem Ltd., the Hungarian subsidiary of Donau-Chemie AG inaugurated its ferric chloride/polyaluminium chloride plant established at the industrial site of Wanhua-BorsodChem on Wednesday.
