Miskolc Northern Ring Road to be completed by late spring 2015

Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner, Member of Parliament of the region Katalin Csöbör and Head of Communications of the National Infrastructure Development Co. Ltd. Dániel Loppert laid the foundation stone of the Miskolc Northern Ring on 13 November 2013. The 2x1 lane stretch of 5.8 km to be funded from the New Széchenyi Plan is to be ready for use by traffic in late spring 2015.
District heating supply of Pécs now based on renewable energy

Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh inaugurated the biomass power plant of Pannonpower, the subsidiary of Dalkia Energy Ltd., in Pécs on 7 November, 2013. Thank to the investment worth some HUF 24 billion of the company present in Hungary for twenty years, the district heating supply of the Baranya County seat, as the first in the country, has become entirely based on renewable energy.

Both the United States Department of Energy and the International Atomic Energy Agency have expressed acknowledgement of the effectiveness of the measures Hungary has taken for the removal of used nuclear fuels. Having completely removed all heater elements containing highly enriched uranium from its territory, Hungary has made a significant step towards meeting the international objectives that urge securing easily accessible radioactive materials.

The V4 Forum for Gas Market Integration held its first session in Budapest on 29 October 2013. The Ministry of National Economy is drafting a plan that would see the monthly payments of foreign currency mortgage holders drop by 15-20 percent from 2014 and the loans themselves phased out over the next 3-5 years.

By reforming the system of savings cooperatives, the Government does not only perform an economic policy task but aspires to achieve important social and development policy goals as well: primarily to improve the development of rural Hungary. Since, in many places, there are only post offices or only savings cooperatives available, it is very important goal to provide national coverage of the comprehensive range of banking, insurance, investment and postal products and services.

The total value of the New Széchenyi Plan package of developments targeted at the prevention of road accidents causing personal injury is over HUF 55 billion. The investments to be implemented on the expressway system in the first round, from a budget of over HUF 13.5bn, may be completed by the end of next year. The project launching event of the State Motorway Management Co. Ltd. was held at the Company’s customer service at Rest Area M3 Szilas on 22 October 2013.
