Hortobágy Gene Bank Transferred to National Park

The Hortobágy Non-profit Company for Nature Conservation and Gene Preservation is to be transferred from the National Asset Management Inc. to the Hortobágy National Park (HNP), announced Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas on Monday in Hortobágy.

This is the 41st time that Hungary is taking part in the International Green Week (Grüne Woche) exhibition and trade fair, this time with a 500 square metre stand. The agricultural diplomacy events linked to the fair affect some 5 billion people.

In October 2013, Hungary will host an international conference on water with the participation of UN member nations and institutions, and all related economic and social players (The Budapest World Water Summit). Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas has appointed Chief Advisor István Teplán Ministerial Commissioner to represent the Ministry in the preparation and organisation of the conference, and to serve as Vice-President of the Inter-ministerial Preparatory Committee.

"Disbursement of the second phase of area-based agricultural funding due for last year has begun; farmers will receive HUF 140 billion during the following months", announced Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas at a press conference in Tök on Wednesday.
New Waste Management Regulations

Some of the implementation regulations of the new Waste Management Act that came into force on January 1 have been issued. Among others, the new regulations concern the distribution of packaging materials, the returning and recycling of packaging materials, the receipt of electric and electronic equipment that has become waste, and the handling of cars that have been removed from circulation.
