József Hatala National Chief of Police has called for an investigation regarding measures taken by the police during recent tension between Roma and other locals of Cegléd, 70 km East of Budapest. László Garamvölgyi, Director of Communication at the National Police Headquarters stated, that the aim of the investigation will be to uncover whether police officers have failed to take the necessary measures in managing the conflict.
Besides national efforts there is a strong need for action at European level to fight against trafficking in human beings (THB) – told Krisztina Berta, the deputy state secretary for EU and international affairs of the Ministry of Interior on a press conference held on the 20th Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Ministry of Interior organized law enforcement career camp for young Roma for the ninth time in the Adyliget Law Enforcement Secondary School in Nagykovácsi. During the five days the 47 participants have the opportunity to get an insight into the everyday professional activity of police, disaster management, and prosecution staff.

The last formal Council meeting on Justice and Home Affairs under the Danish Presidency was held on 7-8 June 2012, in Luxembourg. On the first day of the meeting home affairs issues were on agenda.
