Deputy State Secretary Fülöp opens new nursery in Vaja

On Thursday Deputy State Secretary for Family and Equal Opportunities Attila Fülöp opened a new nursery, built from nearly 150 million forints (EUR 481 000) in the town of Vaja, north-eastern Hungary.

Encouraging childbirth is one of the Hungarian government’s top priorities, Deputy State Secretary for Family and Equal Opportunities Attila Fülöp opened on Thursday a new nursery built at a cost of nearly 150 million forints (EUR 481,000) in the town of Vaja, north-eastern Hungary. Attila Fülöp said on Thursday at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences during the “Work-Family balance” conference.

Kindergarten and childcare support are complementary

State-subsidised kindergarten places are also available to those children, whose parents receive childcare support, Minister of State for Social and Family Affairs Miklós Soltész said at a press conference on Wednesday.
He said that by the end of this administration’s current term (in April) the Government will have spent 28 billion forints (EUR 91,000) on creating an additional 5,000 nursery places. He also said the Government is currently looking at where additional nursery places will be needed during the 2014-2020 EU budget period.

Government contributes HUF 280 million to European Water Polo Championships

The Hungarian Government is contributing direct funding of 280 million forints (EUR 907,000) to the 2014 European Water Polo Championships, Minister of State for Sports István Simicskó said at a press conference on Wednesday. The championship starts in Budapest on 13 July.

Hungarian ambulance service gets modern command centre

The Hungarian ambulance service will be much more efficient in the future, thanks to the new integrated command centre software, State Minister for Health Miklós Szócska said at a press conference on Tuesday. The new command software is currently being installed and operators receive their training.

Hungarian teachers’ salaries rose twice within the last six months – by 34 percent last September and by an additional 8-10,000 forints (EUR 26-33) in January. These Government decisions show that the state regards the quality education of children as a high priority. This duty – undertaken in concert with families – is clearly visible in the renewal of the education system and the increased moral and material recognition of the work of teachers.

Food aid for foster children

The Ministry for Human Resources and the Johannite Caritative Service has donated a significant amount of food, which the Budapest Childcare Service will distribute to 2,800 children living in orphanages and at foster parents.
“The Government has established very effective cooperation with caritative agencies” – Minister of State for Social and Family Affairs Miklós Soltész said when presenting over the food packages.
