Private sector funding is important to Hungarian innovation

Hungarian higher education receives 2.5 times more financial support from the private sector than from the state and this practice should continue, Minister of State for Higher Education István Klinghammer declared at a press conference held prior to the opening of the Swedish-Hungarian Innovation Days education-related event on Wednesday in Budapest.
Revised church law adopted by Parliament

On Wednesday Parliament passed new rules concerning the recognition of church organisations, following the decision of the Constitutional Court, which annulled some passages in the original church law. Most of the amended legislation's provisions will take effect on August 1, 2013.

Employment of individuals with disabilities increased by 10 thousand

The search for Hungary’s most successful mountaineer of all time, Zsolt Erőss and his companion, Péter Kiss was stopped after the two disappeared at 8,000 metres while descending from Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world on the boundary between Nepal and India.

National conference on improving access to opioid medicines in Hungary

An international conference was organised in Budapest on the use of opioid medicines for curative purposes. The aim of the ATOME (Access to Opioid Medication in Europe) Project is to improve access by patients to opioid medication in those 12 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, where the per capita consumption of morphine is very low, as shown by statistical evidence.

Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog testified in front of the Nyíregyháza Court with relation ot the case of the Miklós Sója Kindergarten and Elementary School, run by the Greek Catholic Church. The Chance for Children Foundation (CFCF) has sued both the local government and the church, demanding closure of the institution that, according to CFCF, segregates Roma children.
Hungary and Germany to launch joint Roma programmes

Hungary and Germany will soon launch several Roma programmes, Human Resources Minister Zoltan Balog said in Berlin on Thursday after talks with German officials. The Minister, who is on an official visit to Germany, met with Ministers of State Cornelia Pieper and Eckart von Kladen, as well as with Romani Rose, President of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma.
