The largest foot bridge in the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team’s (HUN PRT-12) area of responsibility has been built with international cooperation in Shahabudin region. The American, Hungarian, German and Afghan nations have jointly constructed the Gadi passage in five months.
Combat Divers of Debrecen Explore Shipwreck

After 60 years, combat divers of the Hungarian Defence Forces are to dive into sea again. They are participating in mapping the wreck of SMS Franz Joseph I, a battle cruiser of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy lying at a depth of 45 meters. WO Bence Miklós, S/Sgt. Zsolt Horváth, Sgt. Lajos Bíró and L./Sgt. Péter Hollós, the combat divers of the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade 24th ‘Bornemissza Gergely’ Reconnaissance Battalion set out for the Adriatic Sea on May 25.

On that day, with the completion of the preparatory period following the troop rotation, Maj. Gen. Chao Liu, the Force Commander of the UN mission made a tour of inspection around Sector 4.

Hungary Will Participate in Baltic Air Policing

For three years, Hungary offers to provide 500,000 dollars annually for the financial sustainment of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), Prime Minister Viktor Orbán reaffirmed at NATO’s 25th Summit in Chicago on Monday, May 21. He also announced that Hungary will join the Baltic Air Policing mission.
National Military Representatives Visit Hungary

At the invitation of Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the Defence Staff, this week the National Military Representatives serving at the NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) are paying an official visit to Hungary. Every year the National Military Representatives pay a visit to a given country during which they can get to know the armed forces, history and cultural background of the host member state as well as some current issues in defence policy.

Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Admiral James Stavridis paid a three-day official visit to Afghanistan. He was accompanied by Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Budapest, who thanked the Hungarian troops for their sacrifice in serving with NATO in Afghanistan.
