Energy modernisation of all panel dwellings in Hungary may be implemented by 2020

Within the framework of the Panel III Programme declared for the development period 2014-2020, the energy modernisation for some 380 thousand panel dwellings may start countrywide, Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh announced in Budapest on 10 December, 2013. Considering the achievements of the Panel I-II Programmes as well, the Government is thus to ensure the energy modernisation of the complete stock of 700 thousand panel dwellings in Hungary by 2020.

Local organisers of European Mobility Week awarded

It was thanks to the organisers’ outstanding performance among others that a record number of Hungarian local authorities registered on the international website of the one-week campaign this year. There were 129 local authorities altogether to join the series of events in September, whereby Hungary came third among the 47 registering countries, Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner said in Budapest on 10 December, 2013.

New FLIRT multiple units on track

Fatih Birol, chief economist of the International Energy Agency (IEA), presented the publication which contains the organisation’s global energy industry forecast in Budapest on 5 December 2013. At the Central European presentation of the volume called World Energy Outlook 2013 hosted by the Ministry of National Development, Secretary of State for Energy Affairs Pál Kovács pointed out that the IEA’s forecasts play a key role in domestic energy policy.

The free quotas play an extremely important role in the modernisation of Hungary’s power sector and restore Community legal security in the EU Emissions Trading System.
