Hungarian-Croatian Discussions on Rural Development Programming

Németh and Croatian Deputy Minister for Rural Development, EU and International Cooperation Luka Čuljak have met to discuss the planning of the next European Union programming period. Croatia is expected to join the European Union on July 1 2013, and so values Hungary's experiences.

Iván Bába, Administrative State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ilan Mor, Ambassador of Israel in Hungary, opened the exhibition „Visa for Life” in the main building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs November 13. The exhibition commemorates diplomats who rescued many persecuted Jews during the Second World War by risking, and even at times sacrificing, their own lives.

A Memorial Place was Inaugurated in Vojvodina to Commemorate a Martyr Hungarian Priest

A memorial place to commemorate the martyrdom of Reverend Lajos Varga was inaugurated and consecrated in the garden of the Saint George Roman Catholic church in Mol, Vojvodina, Serbia on November 11. State Secretary György Hölvényi represented the Hungarian Government at the ceremony. The State Secretary in charge of Church and Ethnic Minority Affairs evoked, among others, the memory of the Hungarian victims of the massacres that occurred in Vojvodina during the Second World War. Lajos Varga, the parish priest in Mol at the time, was executed without sentence. The commemorative event stood under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén.
