Prime Minister Viktor Orbán regards the approval of the report about the state of fundamental rights in Hungary submitted by rapporteur Rui Tavares as an operation of the European left, based partly on the idea that the Hungarian Fundamental Law is not a liberal constitution. He also noted on public Kossuth radio’s 180 minutes that the wage increase for teachers is a certainty.
Further to a proposal submitted by the ruling parties, the Hungarian Parliament adopted on Thursday a resolution stipulating that the Tavares report severely violates Hungary's rights as an EU member state and disregards the European Parliament's powers.
The Prime Minister called the report on the situation of fundamental rights approved by the European Parliament on Wednesday unjust and said that business lobby interests lie behind the measures taken against Hungary.
Today Foreign Minister János Martonyi, on the request of the Egyptian side, received Egyptian Ambassador Ashraf Mohsen without delay. Ambassador Ashraf Mohsen informed the Hungarian Foreign Minister about the situation in Egypt.
Hiking tourism providing low-income families with holiday opportunities is in need of renovated tourist houses, a modern sign system and up-to-date facilities in order to catch up with Austrian standards, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a speech in Dobogókő, the highest point of the Northern Hungarian Visegrád Hills and a favoured tourist destination, after signing an agreement with the President of the Hungarian Association of Hikers (MTSZ).
Real economic transactions within current accounts in Hungary have posted significant surpluses in recent years. One key element of that has been the positive foreign trade turnover trend which began after 2009: Hungarian foreign trade has registered permanent and steady surpluses since the onset of the global economic crisis as the value of Hungarian exports has repeatedly exceeded imports.
The Hungarian government rejects the Tavares report completely – declared Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister of State in charge European Affairs Enikő Győri in Strasbourg on Wednesday following the European Parliament (EP) vote - with 370 for, 249 against and 82 abstaining - that approved the report on the state of fundamental rights in Hungary, prepared by Portuguese MEP Rui Tavares.
"The universal values upon which the United States was founded - liberty, fundamental freedoms, democracy, the rule of law and independence - are important not only for the American nation but for Hungarians and other nations as well", Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi declared at a reception hosted by the US Embassy on the occasion of Independence Day, the American national holiday.
The awards were presented to the winners of the Hungarian round of the European Enterprise Promotion Awards competition by Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga.
