No Fooling... HAW Passes 7,000 hours on April 1st, 2012

PÁPA AIR BASE, Hungary – On Sunday, 1 April 2012, the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) and the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) program reached a new milestone. The C-17 piloted by Heavy Airlift Squadron Commander, Lt Col Christian Langfeldt (NOR), and his crew passed 7,000 flight hours in Turkish Airspace at 0138 Zulu time. This Afghanistan resupply mission reflected the significant progress made by the program as it included crewmembers from exactly half of the SAC Nations – Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and the United States.

Indoor smoking fined after 1 April 2012

On 1 January 2012, the amendment of the Act on the protection of non-smokers has entered into force, which introduced stricter requirements for smoking beginning with 2012. In the practice, this means that save for a few special cases, the regulation bans smoking in indoors, as well as in certain outdoor areas. However, a grace period has been given until 1 April 2012 for those facilities involved.

An events centre in the shape of a Rubik’s cube may be built in Budapest

The building would function as a museum, events venue and exhibition centre, and could be one of Budapest’s most important cultural venues.
