The Government Regards the Protection of Hungarian Farmland as a Priority

"The Government is handling the protection of Hungarian farmland as a priority, and the New Land Act, which determined the fundamental principles of land trade, makes it clear that Hungarian farmland belongs to locally resident farmers, and as such has brought to a close a 1100-year debate", The Ministry of Rural Development's Minister of State for the State Land Programme Márton Bitay said at a press conference on Monday.

Applications for funding towards purchasing the equipment required by animal husbandry units, and food industry machinery and technology may be submitted from 8am on Monday 16 December until no later than 31 January 2013, or until the budget is depleted. The Ministry of Rural Development is providing a budget of 60 billion forints for this purpose.
Hungary wins court battle against European Commission

On 31 May 2010, Hungary lodged an appeal with the Court of Justice of the European Union with respect to the European Commission's authorisation of the industrial cultivation of the genetically modified (GM) Amfora potato and the use of its by-products in animal feeds, asking that these Commission decrees be annulled.
HUF 1.7bn for the School Milk Programme

The Ministry of Rural Development will be providing funding of HUF 1.7 billion (some 5.6 million euros) for the Kindergarten and School Milk Programme in 2014, 200 million more than this year. Tasks related to the Programme will be performed by the Klebelsberg Institution Maintenance Centre (KIK), according to the decree issued by the Minister of Rural Development today.
Agricultural Output Increases by over 20 Percent

Gyula Budai has discovered another case of fraud with relation to applications for area-based funding; the Ministry of Rural Development's Parliamentary State Secretary announced at a press conference on Wednesday that he had passed the documentation on to the Vice-President of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV).
Inter-ministerial Farmstead Development Working Group Formed

The town of Kiskőrös in the Southern Great Plain region of Hungary was the last stop of the series of conferences organised by the Ministry of Rural Development to showcase the achievements of the Farmstead Development Programme in 2013. The inter-ministerial Farmstead Development Working Group also held its inaugural session at the meeting. The Ministries involved will work to harmonise the work they are performing to improve the living conditions of people who live on farmsteads.
Sheep and Goat Farmers to receive Increased Funding

"Sheep and Goat farmers are to receive increased levels of funding in view of the fact that the Government has succeeded in getting the European Commission to allow Hungarian farmers to be given the HUF equivalent of 10 thousand euros over a three-year period, according to low importance, so-called de minimis regulations", the Ministry of Rural Development Minister of State for Agricultural Economy György Czerván announced at the general assembly of the Hungarian Association of Sheep and Goat Farmers in Herceghalom.
