Minister of National Development Tamás Fellegi presented the Government's economic policy priorities at a closed economic meeting held for the representatives of German business sphere at the German Embassy in Budapest on 16th November 2010. Mr. Fellegi also spoke about the background of introducing temporary crisis taxes aiming at the equitable sharing of taxation.

The tasks and responsibilities of the former Ministry of Transport, Telecommunication and Energy have been taken over by the newly established Ministry of National Development. The website of the Ministry of National Development is under construction. However, the usual contents of the former webpage are still available.
The European Commission informed the Hungarian Government in its letter of 13 September 2010 that it would suspend the interim payments of the Transport Operative Programme. The reason for the Commission’s decision was a report on the system audit of the operation of the Transport Operative Programme between 1 January 2007 and 15 September 2009, which revealed major shortcomings. The Government of National Affairs had already experienced the irresponsible practice of the previous government in the course of the takeover procedures in the summer and thus took immediate action still during the summer in precisely those areas identified by the Commission. The measures taken are specifically intended to prevent the country being irrevocably deprived of these EU development resources due to the governance of the previous socialist leadership that ignored national interests.
As part of the series of bilateral consultations that began in August, on 8 October 2010 Minister of National Development Tamás Fellegi, who is also Government Commissioner responsible for Hungarian-Russian economic relations and co-chairman of the Hungarian-Russian Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation Committee (IECC), had talks in Budapest with the Russian co-chairman of the IECC, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov. Viktor Zubkov was also officially received by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Minister of National Development Tamás Fellegi addressed yesterday’s event on the future and potentials of cohesion policy held in Brussels as part of the Open Days series of events on regional and local development. The minister emphasised Hungary’s interest in a strong cohesion policy and said that during its presidency Hungary intended to place this issue on the agenda of the ministerial General Affairs Council.
Putting an end to a 3-year long court process, 23 September 2010, Hungary has prevailed international arbitration lodged by AES Summit Generation Ltd. and its Hungarian subsidiary AES Tisza Erőmű Kft. (AES Tisza Power Plant Ltd.). The court underlined in the explanation of its – mandatory – ruling that none of the measures taken by the Republic of Hungary violated the regulations of the Energy Charter Treaty. The court found no basis for any of the claims made by AES Summit Generation Ltd. – including a 30 million USD claim for compensation – and dismissed them all.
The government does not negotiate with Russian energy company Surgutneftegas about the purchase of their shares in MOL – confirmed Mr. Tamás Fellegi, Minister of National Development yesterday when addressing foreign journalists in a background meeting.

He has informed their representatives of the government intentions concerning the airline and the expected schedule of national and international steps and decisions.
