Minister Németh says Government will set up non-profit public utility company

The Government is to start creating conditions for an industrial overhead reduction and, in relation to this, will set up a non-profit public utility company. The necessary legislation is expected to be passed in Parliament by the end of this year, Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh announced at a press conference evaluating the results of the MVM Group in the past four years in Budapest on Tuesday.
Modern buses, higher quality services also in the agglomeration

Based on the order made by the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) VOLÁNBUSZ Ltd. is taking over the operation of bus services in community transport in certain lines in the agglomeration, which have an important role in the Budapest traffic. BKK and VOLÁNBUSZ will provide higher quality services to the population of the capital and the 11 agglomeration settlements with MAN and RABA-VOLVO Accessible Low Floor (ALF) buses also equipped with AC systems.
Another HUF 27 billion for minor road reconstruction

The Government has raised the total allocation for the programme supporting the comprehensive reconstruction of certain sections of 4-5 digit roads to HUF 109 billion. According to an estimation based on earlier cost data, the extra funds will finance the reconstruction of some 270 km by the public road management company, Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh announced in Szeged on 1 April, 2014.
Freight ferry may be launched between Esztergom and Sturovo within a year

A direct North-South freight transport connection may be established along the Hungarian-Slovakian border at Esztergom by next spring. The new freight ferry may carry 70-80 lorries across the Danube per day, Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner announced in Esztergom on 28 March, 2014.
Enlargement of Industrial Park in Bonyhád strengthens local economy

Existing and future industrial parks are decisive means of employment creation and economic organisation, Minister of National Development Zsuzsa Németh pointed out at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new bays of Völgység Industrial Park in Bonyhád, on 27 March, 2014. Half of the investment costs of almost HUF 1 billion are financed from the New Széchenyi Plan.

This year Hungary is implementing the biggest super computer development in its history. Worth 2 billion forints, the project will quadruple the capacity of the national super computer technology infrastructure by the end of the year and will significantly increase the domestic research and development potential.

On March 26, 2014 NISZ Nemzeti Infokommunikációs Szolgáltató Zártkörűen Működő Részvénytársaság (NISZ), a wholly owned subsidiary of Magyar Nemzeti Vagyonkezelő Zártkörűen Működő Részvénytársaság (MNV), signed a binding agreement for the acquisition of 100% of the shares of “Antenna Hungária” Magyar Műsorszóró és Rádióhírközlési Zártkörűen Működő Részvénytársaság (Antenna Hungária), a subsidiary of the French broadcast network service group TDF S.A. (TDF). As of May 30, 2014, the new owner of Antenna Hungária will be NISZ, a state-owned company providing governmental information and telecommunication operations and services.
PET Centre in Kaposvár opens new chapter in medical treatment in Hungary

A diagnostic centre simultaneously using the most up-to-date PET CT and PET MR medical diagnostic equipment currently available – the first such centre in Central Europe – was inaugurated at Kaposvár University on 26 March, 2014. As a result of the investment worth some HUF 3 billion, an efficient to operate state-owned diagnostic centre of a world standard is now at the disposal of people living in the region, Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner said upon the inauguration the establishment.
New electric car charging pole inaugurated in Budapest

The essence of the Jedlik Ányos Programme, currently under preparation, is to facilitate Hungary’s preparation for technical innovation in transport, including electromobility, Minister of State for Economic Regulation of the Ministry for National Economy Kristóf Szatmáry said at the inauguration of a new electric car charging pole in Budapest on Tuesday.
National professional database for raising standard of community transport

Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner inaugurated the new Centre for Transport Methodology of the Institute for Transport Sciences (KTI) in Budapest on 25 March, 2014. As its primary function, the Centre is to provide uniform, real-time timetable and transport data with a nationwide coverage for organisations operating in community transport and for passengers.
