Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog visited the Pista Dankó Kindergarten, Crèche, Elementary School, Vocational School, Secondary School and Dormitory in Biri, Eastern Hungary. The disadvantaged status of the region causes many problems, and therefore such an institution, which provides education from a young age all the way through to secondary school is essential.

March 20 has been designated as the international day for la Francophonie. The French language and French-speaking cultural values are celebrated on this day all over the world, regardless of ethnic and geographical differences. This was the day when the Convention on setting up the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation was signed in Niamey, Niger, and today the Agency is called the International Organization for Francophonie.

On March 15th 2013, I granted the Táncsics Mihály award to Ferenc Szaniszló on the recommendation of a journalist association. When I made this decision I was not aware of the fact that this person, who used to perform a high quality job as a foreign affairs editor and journalist, had made comments recently that violated human dignity.

The Council of Europe has acknowledged Hungary’s accession to the enlarged partial agreement of Cultural Routes, thus from now on Hungarian organizations and institutions can also apply to be part of new cultural routes.
