Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog has held talks on financing and development with members of the Art Universities Rectors Chair (MERSZ).

The Minister of Human Resources emphasised that the teaching of applied and fine arts, theatre and film, dance and music is not just a question of education, but it is also an important cultural activity. The special features may be different: education does not begin at the same age, but teaching is always elite and conducted in small groups, and so cannot be compared to mass education.

Zoltán Balog emphasised that the Hungarian University of Fine Arts asked the Prime Minister to resolve the freezing of HUF 300 million in funds last week. He added that they also expect the university to articulate their financial concept in relation to the solution of their problems and their future.

As has been stated with regard to the requirements of other institutions of higher education, elements to assist schools of the arts such as the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, the University of Theatre and Film Arts and the Hungarian College of Dance Arts will also be included in the programme.
