Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will meet Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan today in Budapest. Topics of discussion will include strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of industry, agriculture and transport.
Following their meeting, the heads of government will hold a joint press conference, after which they will both address a Hungarian-Turkish business forum in the afternoon.
President of the Republic Áder János will receive the Turkish Prime Minister at Sándor Palace.
During the day, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will hold a lecture at Eötvös Loránd University.
Turkey is Hungary’s sixth most important non EU-member commercial partner; bilateral trade relations have quadrupled between 2002 and 2011. In 2011, the value of Turkish investments in Hungary equalled 3.7 million euros, with approximately 300 Turkish companies operating in the country.
