Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén and State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó welcomed Lebanese Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi and his escort in the Hungarian Parliament.
The patriarch congratulated the government on its achievements and spoke highly of the Hungarian constitution, a document which he saw as an indication that Europe's future could be based on Christian values. Lebanese Christians are particularly interested in inter-religious dialogue and peaceful coexistence, said the Patriarch.
At the talks, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of having defended the new, Christian-based Hungarian constitution in Europe, and he promised to provide similar support to Christians outside Europe should they be pressured.
