Hungarian-Turkish relations have strong roots dating back several decades and have a promising future as well, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at a Turkish-Hungarian business forum organised in Ankara.

He encouraged Turkish businesspeople to come and invest in Hungary and to foster the traditional friendship between the two countries.

The Prime Minister emphasised that, geographically, Hungary plays an important role in East-West trade and forms part of central Europe, a region that will soon become the engine of growth for the European economy.

He also stressed that Hungary has undergone tremendous changes since the present Government came to office, when its credit rating was worse than Greece’s. This era has ended, he said, noting that in the autumn of 2010, Hungary no longer needed loans from the International Monetary Fund.
