Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will travel to Moscow for a one-day official visit on 31 January, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó announced.
Viktor Orbán is visiting Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.
Russia's economy is expected to grow by 3 per cent this year, Péter Szijjártó said, adding that there are opportunities to strengthen economic relations.
The main areas of cooperation are agriculture and industry, but issues related to energy might also be on the agenda, for example the Hungarian section of the South Stream gas pipeline. As Hungary would like to play an important role in the transportation of goods from the Caucasus and the Far East to Europe, questions related to transportation are also likely to be discussed.
