The Hungarian Government’s aim is to achieve close economic cooperation with the Russian regions, including Tatarstan – Government Commissioner for Hungarian-Russian economic relations Peter Szijjártó said on Tuesday in the Hungarian Parliament building, where he met with Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ravil Muratov.
The Commissioner emphasised that during the course of its Eastern Opening Policy, one of the Government's main objectives is increasing Hungarian exports to Russia. Hence, Hungary is working on building close cooperation with the republics and regions of the Russian Federation. Accordingly, the Government is committed to speeding up negotiations on the economic cooperation agreement between Hungary and Tatarstan.
He added that in the first half of 2013, Hungary increased its exports to Tatarstan by 83%, and both parties expressed their interest in further development. “We are generally concentrating on agricultural, food industry and water management exports, in addition to which we are gradually putting more emphasis on exporting technology”, Mr. Szijjártó said.
