The Government regards the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) as a key player in the Hungarian economy, and accordingly its opinion is always considered important, Government Spokesperson András Giró-Szász stressed following Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting at which the implementation of the three agreements previously concluded with the MKIK and future plans were discussed.

Chairman of MKIK László Parragh said the agreements concluded with the Government touch on issues of macroeconomics, the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy and improving dialogue between the Government and economic operators.

According to Mr. Parragh, the Hungarian economy is essentially moving in the right direction and its fundamental elements are getting increasingly stronger. The excessive deficit procedure against Hungary has been lifted, and the restructuring of sub-systems is moving ahead according to schedule.

He pointed out that the development of trade through the Opening to the East policy, the establishment of trade houses and the modernisation of the foreign trade network is evolving successfully partly as a result of the existing cooperation between the Chamber and the Government.

He also said that the two parties agree on the effectiveness of the Job Protection Action Plan, adding that employment is steadily increasing in what would seem to be a sustainable manner. Financing SMEs, R&D, innovation and the use of EU funds during the upcoming financial period were also discussed.
