The necessity of decisions can only be judged with appropriate objectivity by posterity Government Spokesperson András Giró-Szász said in an interview to Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap.
The Spokesperson said in the interview on Monday that the Government’s success is indicated by the fact that according to the European Commission’s report, the Hungarian economy is stable in the medium and long-term perspective. The country has not received such an evaluation from the European Union in the past ten years.
He pointed out that pensions will retain their purchasing power in 2013 and the minimal wage will rise by 5.4%, while household energy prices will see a decrease for the first time in 40 years.
Talking about the swift restructuring process, the Government Spokesperson pointed out that Hungary was showing budgetary, economic and social problems similar to that of Southern European countries, with the Fidesz-led government leading Hungary out of the crisis at the last minute. Hungary has developed into a country with the power to enforce its interests, he added.
Regarding the recent students rallies, Giró-Szász stated that the Government aims to create a reasonable, efficient and cost effective higher education system, and also plans to increase its funding. Therefore it is in everyone’s interest that changes take place as soon as possible.
