The Hungarian economy and the Fourth Amendment were among the topics of discussion at the meeting between State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Péter Szijjártó and Thomas O. Melia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the United States Department of State, which took place on Wednesday in Budapest.
State Secretary Szijjártó informed his American colleague about, amongst others, the European Commission’s proposal to abrogate the Excessive Deficit Procedure against Hungary. He also talked about the developments in Hungarian-American economic cooperation and the fact that the Government has already concluded strategic partnership agreements with seven American companies.
The parties discussed Hungary’s on-going consultation with the European Union regarding the Fourth Amendment, as well as touching upon the latest news on the “Arab Spring”, Hungary’s engagement in the Western Balkans and recent social and political changes in various places around the world.
