State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó held talks with the premier and economy minister of Macedonia on Monday.

The State Secretary, who is co-chair of the Hungarian-Macedonia joint economic committee, opened a bilateral business forum in that country. Macedonia is one of Hungary's most important trading partners in the western Balkans, with bilateral annual trade totalling over 120 million euros. The Government aims to further boost trade with Macedonia and seeks to strengthen strategic cooperation in the areas of energy, agriculture and water management. Talks are also under way about the possibility for Hungarian companies to participate in Skopje's 2014 infrastructural development programme, the State Secretary said.
