State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó met with Chairman of Vnesheconombank (VEB) Vladimir Dmitriev in Budapest and discussed the bank’s plans with Dunaferr.
Mr Szijjártó emphasised that since Dunaferr is the region’s largest employer and the depository of Hungarian metallurgy industry traditions, the Hungarian Government is interested in the long-term sustainability of the iron mill. Therefore talks have been launched between Dunaferr and the Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA) on cooperation regarding future developments.
The parties also discussed cooperation between the Hungarian National Trading House (MNKH) and Vnesheconombank (VEB) in order to boost trading of agricultural goods between Hungary and Russia.
Minister of National Economy Mihály Varga also met with VEB Chairman Dmitriev and VEB Deputy Chairman Andrey Sapelin on Thursday, discussing issues related to Paks, Dunaferr and Malév.
