Hungary's State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations held talks in Montevideo and signed bilateral agreements with Uruguay on economic and education cooperation, on Thursday.
Assessing the second day of his official visit to South America, Péter Szijjártó stated that he first held talks with Luis Porto, the acting foreign minister of Uruguay. He assured Mr Porto of Hungary's support to speed up cooperation talks between EU and South American customs union Mercosur.
Further, they signed a bilateral economic cooperation agreement for reinvigorating Hungary's engineering equipment exports to Uruguay, he said. Mr Szijjártó discussed in the economy ministry prospects of boosting bilateral trade that last year totalled 36 million dollars and possibilities of Hungarian participation in Uruguay's infrastructure development projects.
He also signed an education cooperation agreement with acting education minister Oscar Gomez.
