State Secretary for External Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó is on a two-day official visit in Washingon DC and met with Co-chairs of the Hungarian Congressional Caucus Marcy Kaptur and Andy Harris.
The American politicians spoke approvingly about the new Hungarian Fundamental Law and took into consideration the possible fields of development of Hungarian-American economic relations. One of the primary fields that could lead to an export increase could be the food industry, because there is significant US demand for Hungarian food and fruit juices containing natural ingredients.
State Secretary Péter Szijjártó also held negotiations with leaders of American companies that are present in Hungary including Procter & Gamble and IBM. The negotiations were mainly about the companies’ Hungarian operations as well as possible extension plans with special regard to the inclusion of Hungarian SMEs in their supply chains.
