At the opening of the first Hungarian-Kuwait KFI Workshop in Budapest, State Secretary for External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó said that Hungarian R+D and innovation companies have a serious chance of a breakthrough in Gulf countries including Kuwait as part of national development plans there.
Péter Szijjártó cited life sciences, energy, water management and communications as areas in which serious opportunities for cooperation were on offer.
The State Secretary declared that the goal of cooperation between the two countries is to involve Hungarian companies in Kuwait's five-year, 130billion USD national development plan, and to put Hungarian research and development capacity to work on development projects in the Arab world.
He said that a recent agreement signed by Hungary's National Innovation Office (NIH) and Kuwait's National Technology Enterprise Company (NTEC) clears the way for Hungarian companies to participate in development projects.
He added that the Hungarian-Kuwaiti Joint Economic Committee will meet in Budapest on 7-8 May.
