The Prime Minister's foreign affairs chief discussed bilateral relations with the Austrian Foreign Minister in Budapest on Wednesday.
State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó held talks on bilateral relations with Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz and his delegation in Parliament on Wednesday.
The two sides agreed that good cooperation between the two countries is of common interest as their economic performances depend on each other.
Austria is Hungary's second most important trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching EUR 9-10 billion last year.
In addition, Austria is the fourth largest investor in Hungary, with investments totalling EUR 9 billion. The Hungarian Government has recently concluded strategic partnership agreements with two major Austrian companies Leier Hungaria and the Prinzhorn Group.
Mr. Szijjarto emphasised the importance of cross-border cooperation and indicated the Hungarian Government's commitment to building 20 new border crossing points in addition to the 29 existing ones during the period 2014-2020.
