Minister of State for Healthcare Miklós Szócska announced at the Government Spokesperson's press conference that every healthcare employee would be receiving a wage increase.
Miklós Szócska said that the HUF 30bn in funding required for the wage increase will come from excise duties on tobacco and alcohol products. Graduate care workers were at the centre of this year's pay rise, but healthcare professionals, doctors in residence, hospital pharmacists and specialists would also be receiving wage increases.
Providing further details, he said that the gross pay of graduate care workers would increase by HUF 41 thousand, while that of healthcare professionals, hospital pharmacists and resident doctors would go up by 10 thousand, 45 thousand and 10 thousand, respectively. Doctors earning more than 450 thousand would receive an increase of HUF 10 thousand, while those earning less that 450 thousand would receive a further 40 thousand-a-month. A total of 94,843 healthcare employees will receive an increase in pay.
The pay rise is backdated to January, and will be received together with salaries paid out for September.
Government Spokesman András Giró-Szász reminded the press that public healthcare employees had received pay rises on several occasions in recent years.
