Prime Minister Viktor Orban attended the inauguration ceremony of a new vegetable oil factory built by the Swiss Glencore group in Foktő.
The Prime Minister called the 40-billion-forint (EUR 134m) investment a sign of recognition for Hungary's agriculture, and stressed that the new facility would offer 128 new jobs to the local workforce.
Talking about the Hungarian economy in general, Viktor Orbán pointed out that his government had announced new policies in 2010 based on principles of a labour-driven economy rather than one generated by services, and this is now bearing fruit.
Opening one of central Europe's largest vegetable oil plants in Hungary demonstrates that "the country is doing better and is worthy of investment", he said.
Glencore opened its first plant in Hungary in 1996 and currently employs a staff of 300.
