Prime Minister Orbán stated in a press conference on Tuesday that with its decision on the retirement of judges, the Luxembourg Court of Justice ruled on a non-existing provision of law as the Hungarian Constitutional Court annulled it in July 2012.
He added that there is nothing new in this issue, now that the decision has been made, the Hungarian Government will submit a proposal to Parliament in order to reregulate the retirement of judges.
Hungary's law to reduce the retirement age for judges to 62 from 70 is discriminatory, the Luxembourg Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday, stating that it did not conform to the objective of setting uniform retirement regulations in the public sector or creating a more balanced age structure in public administration.
