Prime Minister Orbán met today with Gerda Hasselfeldt, fraction leader of the German Christian Social Union (CSU).
Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog, Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office János Lázár, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó, Ambassador of Germany Matei Hoffmann and CSU foreign policy advisor Hildegard Bentele were also present at the meeting.
The Hungarian Prime Minister stated that Hungary’s relations with Bavaria and the CSU are strategically important.
The CSU fraction leader passed on greetings from Edmund Stoiber and expressed her acknowledgements regarding the incorporation of European Christian values into the New Constitution. Ms. Hasselfeldt added that decreasing public debt is an important goal not only for Hungary, but for the whole of Europe.
Prime Minister Orbán stated that Central Europe is closely interlinked with the German economy, and for this reason a strong Germany is in the general interest of the region. Hungarian economic policy is also aimed at improving Hungary’s competitiveness and ensuring that there are 5 or preferably 5.5 million jobs and taxpayers in the country.
