The direction of the Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency has until now been assigned to the Minister of National Economy.

Minister of National Economy Mihály Varga announced last week that the Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA) and the related trade houses will be assigned to State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó.

The HITA was launched on 1 January 2011 and provides assistance to prospective foreign investors in Hungary and to the exports of Hungarian SMEs. The most important goals of the organization are focused on retaining Hungary’s traditional export markets (Germany, neighbouring countries) as well as on gaining shares in newly emerging markets (Balkan countries, Eastern Europe, Far East).
