The gas link connecting the pipelines of Hungary and Slovakia will start a trial run in the middle of next year and will be used in regular distribution from 2015 on, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary's State Secretary in charge of external economy, said on Wednesday.
He spoke after a meeting of the Hungary-Slovakia economic joint committee in Bratislava, and said that the 115 kilometre-long connection linking the gas networks of the two countries was key for the security of energy supplies for both Hungary and the whole of Central Europe.
At the meeting, a cooperation agreement on energy, car production, and building more border crossings was also signed by representatives of Hungary and Slovakia.
