Hungary realised an economic transition in 2010-2012 and has become competitive, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in Limassol on Friday, where he participated at a special summit of the European People's Party, adding that in 2013 the Hungarian economy will grow.
"Hungary's finances have been put in order and in 2013 a turning point may come in growth. Hungary may this year embark on a growth course, amidst settled financial conditions, on the basis of a sound financial background," he stated.
Europe cannot handle the economic crisis with previously accepted methods; it must transform its economy, the Prime Minister said. A change in every country’s economic system must be introduced, and also in a coordinated manner, in Brussels, he pointed out.
The Prime Minister stated that leaders in each country who wish to manage similar economic transitions, in line with their national interests will receive support.
The special summit has been organised in Limassol to discuss the multi-annual financial framework (MFF) for 2014-2020 and the preparations for the 2014 European elections.
Prime Minister Orbán said, however, that talks might go beyond the budget and also cover the ways of Europe getting out of the economic crisis.
