Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has written to José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission to assure him of Hungary's commitment to European norms with regard to the amendments to the Fundamental Law.

In a letter following a phone conversation on Friday, the Prime Minister confirmed the Hungarian government’s and Parliament’s full commitment to European norms and rules. He also assured Mr. Barroso that this commitment has been and is going to be reflected throughout the process of adopting the amendments to the Fundamental Law. He added that he counts on the cooperation of the European Commission as well.
