A Hungarian-Slovak government meeting will be held in Budapest on July 2, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó announced after talks in Bratislava on Wednesday.

The meeting will be attended by the two countries’ Prime Ministers and key members of their governments.

The two parties will discuss trans-border projects, Visegrad Four cooperation, joint answers to challenges faced by the EU and support for EU enlargement.

Photo: Prime Minister’s OfficeThe two countries' investment promotion agencies will sign an agreement to intensify cooperation between small and medium-sized car industry suppliers. State Secretary Szijjártó pointed out that bilateral trade last year registered a record 8.8 billion euros.

During his visit, the Hungarian official held talks with State Secretary of Foreign Affairs Peter Javorcik, and met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, Economy Minister Tomas Malatinsky and Deputy Prime Minister Lubomir Vazny, who is responsible for investment projects.

The programme would include construction of 43 roads, reconstruction of 14 roads and three priority projects: construction of the M15 and M2 dual-carriageways and a new road bridge over the Danube at Komárom. The total cost of the projects would amount to 170 million euros, the Hungarian State Secretary said. He noted that the Slovak-Hungarian border section is more than 700 kilometres long, longer than that of Germany and France, still there are only 28 crossing points.

It was established that the construction of the Hungarian-Slovak gas interconnector is progressing on schedule and according to plans the facility will be tested in 2014 and put into service in 2015. Slovak negotiators also proposed connecting the two countries' electricity grids.
