The joint economic committee of Hungary and Macedonia met in Skopje on Wednesday. State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó, co-chair of the committee, met Macedonian economy minister Valon Saracini on the sidelines of the meeting.
Strengthening ties in the Western Balkans is a top priority for Hungary as part of its strategy of opening to the east, Mr Szijjártó stated, noting that Hungary's exports to Macedonia totalled 120 million euros last year, 13% up from 2011, while Hungarian investment in Macedonia reached 328 million euros.
The Hungarian State Secretary also referred to an action plan adopted in May 2013 to boost economic relations, and said that the implementation of its components was on schedule.
