Producers of foreign films have spent more than HUF 75 billion (EUR 244 million) in Hungary over the past two years, government commissioner for the film industry Andrew G. Vajna told Magyar Nemzet daily.
The one-time Hollywood producer, appointed to his current post early 2011, said that he aimed to develop a new, efficient subsidy system and attract further foreign productions to Hungary. He said the about HUF 6 billion had been saved through the consolidation of the Hungarian Motion Picture Public Foundation (MKKA). He added that six to seven Hungarian films, including documentaries, would be premiered this year.
