Hungarian exports to China will grow significantly thanks to a licence that has Hungary received, at the end of a long series of talks, to export frozen pork, goose and duck to China, State Secretary Péter Szijjártó said on Friday.
He told a press conference that raising economic cooperation with China to a strategic level and intensifying trade ties were basic pillars of Hungary's policy of opening towards the East. Hungary wants to increase exports to China, and the food industry clearly represents a flagship area in exports, he added.
Economic growth, the strengthening of the middle classes and new trends in consumption are expected to boost demand in China for safe and quality food products with high value-added, Mr Szijjártó said.
Hungary has an advantage in the competition because Hungarian food products are of high quality and safe, he said, citing the fact that they are GMO free.
