An exhibition presenting the lives of football players Flórián Albert and Zoltán Czibor was opened by State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó at the Golden 17th Centre in Komárom. "
The lives of the two players show that if someone is humble, works honestly and decently, the can, even in difficult times, conquer five continents and make their country famous", he stated at the opening event, where the State Secretary welcomed fellow player Jenő Buzánszky, members of the two deceased players’ families and the sports-loving audience, who came to remember them.
The exhibition was organised on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Zoltán Czibor’s death and can be visited free of charge until 1 December. In the two halls, many personal belongings, including the Golden Football of Flórián Albert and the Zoltán Czibor’s Olympic gold medal will also be on display.
The two football legends played in the famous 1950s Hungarian national football team (also known as the Golden Team), which defeated then football world powers England, Uruguay and the Soviet Union. Following the failure of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution Czibor only returned after 1990, where he founded a football club in Komárom.
